14 Nov Immigration Alert
Immigration Alert
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has announced significant changes to the point calculation for Express Entry permanent resident applications. Changes will become effective on November 19, 2016. We will update our guides in the coming weeks. In the meantime, here are some significant highlights:
Points for Employment:
50 points will be awarded for individuals who have offers of permanent full-time employment for NOC 0, A or B positions. This includes work permits based on LMIAs, intra corporate transfers, NAFTA/FTA, PNP, and other significant benefit categories provided that the applicant has worked for the employer for at least 1 year and has an indeterminate/permanent offer of continued employment from that employer.
200 points will be awarded to those NOC 0 positions which are “00” (senior managerial level positions). This will typically include “C suite” employees.
The 600 points previously awarded for LMIA-based job offers will be removed.
PNPs will continue to be awarded 600 points.
Points for Studies in Canada
Applicants who have completed a 1 or 2-year post-secondary diploma in Canada will get 15 bonus points.
Applicants who have completed a post-secondary course of 3+ years will get 30 bonus points.
